Concrete materials will be needed in order to lay a foundation for the extension. Water, cement, and stone comprise concrete, and you will probably want to use cinder blocks in certain parts to provide additional support. Bring a shovel along to help distribute the concrete as well as dig into the ground where necessary. Be sure to wash it off if you use it to move concrete.
The walls of the extension will likely be made from drywall, and you must also decide upon an exterior material. This is usually an easy decision, as it should be the same as the rest of the house. You might have to buy brick, siding, or wood. Do not forget that a roof is needed, and that requires shingles and roofing paper. Tar is a better option than felt. Gutters and downspouts must be utilized in order to avoid water damage.
