Does Your Comforter Match Your Personality?
This seems like an odd question, but it is a good question to consider. I realize we all have what we call alter egos that sometimes come out, but for the most part we present ourselves in a certain way. For instance, I am for the most part a down-to-earth, conservative person and I normally like blue tones for my clothing apparel. However, for my comforter, I like warm colors with bits of style or flare (and it helps that it matches the burgundy carpet in the room). The splashes of color on my comforter help me decorate the rest of the room as I can find complimentary pictures and accent pieces.
I think sometimes we are attracted to comforter styles or colors that may not exactly match our personality (similar to opposites attract in relationships), especially if we are trying to get a certain theme or season. This is actually a fun realization as we can express some of our inner thoughts and interests in our comforter style and we don’t necessarily have to tell the whole world. We can keep it in our own bedroom!
I know friends and family that have comforters that truly depict their outward personality through-and-through. A light blue quilt is how I would describe my mother and this is what she has on her bed. A friend is very artistic and sometimes wild and has a zebra print comforter on her bed. This is very much her style. Try and think about some of the friends and family that you have and if their bedding matches their personality. This is why I love the many varieties of comforter sets and styles available in today’s world. You can choose one that fits your personality to a tee or you can choose your alter-ego personality style and be happy either way.
I think it would be extremely fun to have a comforter set for each season since to some extent our moods change as the seasons change. For instance, in the winter I would do a warm, rich looking comforter (because it is cold where I live). I would choose a light and airy comforter with lots of flowers for the spring. In summer I would choose a beach or lodge-type comforter and fall I would choose a comforter with earthy tones to match the leaves when they turn color. I can imagine all of the possibilities that each person could have.
It would also be fun to have comforter sets to match the side of me that likes the modern look. I like the downtown sleek look of geometric shapes and contrasting colors. These are the styles I dream of when watching the home improvement and decorating shows. Another nice thing about the variety of comforters available is if you want to have a “theme” room, you can decorate your spare bedroom as your dream theme and keep your room within your regular personality traits.
It can be very fun and liberating to incorporate all of your personality traits into your comforter style. You don’t have to keep anything inside anymore if you don’t want to. There is a comforter that is waiting out there for you, so don’t settle for anything less!
