Getting A Hot Tub For Your Home

Getting A Hot Tub For Your Home

If you think that a hot tub (called a jacuzzi by some people) would be a nice addition to your home, then you are not mistaken. It is a bit of a luxury purchase, but it is something that you will use regularly and which will raise the value of your home. These are some points that you need to consider before going ahead and buying one…

- Price

For $5000, you can get a great five person hot tub and, for most people, that is all that they will need. Some hot tub models can cost upwards of $10,000, but for that price you can get something that would not look out of place in the palace of a Saudi prince. In between those prices, you can get hot tubs with nice features added, such as fiber optics and speakers to play music from. As well as the quality of a hot tub, and the features it comes with, do not forget to take into consideration the length of the warranty offered. It is definitely worth paying a little extra for a hot tub that comes with a long warranty.

- Installation Process

Choosing a space in your garden for your hot tub and getting it installed is the hardest part of the process. Having it as near to your house as possible is advisable, and you should really lay some kind of foundations for it. A poured reinforced concrete slab works best as a base (which will set you back about $750), or a well-constructed level patio or deck. A standard 110 volt household current might be able to run the heater or pump on a five person hot tub, but not on all models. Therefore, you might require dedicated wiring of 220 volts. An electrician can take care of this for you, but they will need to do the work before the hot tub is installed, not afterwards.

- Protection

Without using a gazebo to cover your hot tub, you will only be able to use it when the weather permits you to. Whilst a gazebo is not essential, it is a good investment because you will be able to use your hot tub all year around, rather than just in the summer months. A good gazebo can also really add to the hot tub experience, as it can be used to effectively turn your hot tub area into an extension of your house. Fit a gazebo with lights and a heater, and it will be just like another room in your house.
