Warning Signs For Female Uterine Fibroids, Ovarian Cysts And PCOS

Warning Signs For Female Uterine Fibroids, Ovarian Cysts And PCOS:

Occasionally, symptoms and warning signs of female uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) are easily detectable. It is important to note that the symptoms may mimic other conditions.

Fibroids Symptoms

Fibroids in the uterus are non-malignant growth that usually appear during a woman’s childbearing years. Even though fibroids can be a very bothersome ailment for a woman, they are not associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer.

Many women are unaware that they have uterine fibroids because they often do not show any symptoms. Sometimes they are simply discovered during a pelvic exam. When uterine fibroids symptoms do occur, they commonly include:

1. Extended menstrual periods (seven days or more)
2. Heavier menstruation than normally
3. Abdominal pain
4. Frequent urination
5. Inability to completely empty the bladder
6. Back ache
7. Constipation

If you think you have fibroids, and the symptoms bothers you, go to see your doctor. They can make further exams and plan the proper treatments for your condition.

Symptoms of Cysts on the Ovaries

Ovaries are the origins that produce eggs. There are two ovaries located on both side of the uterus.

The eggs remain in the ovaries until they are ready to be fertilized. During ovulation one egg is released from either one of the ovaries and it travels into the uterus. During that time a man’s sperm can fertilize the egg. Because ovaries are the main source of female hormones, they also determine a woman’s hormonal balance.

I have listed here some typical symptoms that cysts on the ovaries can cause for a woman:

1. Irregularity of menstrual cycles
2. Pain/pressure in the abdomen
3. Pain that radiates to lower back and legs
4. Pain during intercourse
5. Pressure and/or pain during a bowel movement
6. Nausea and/or vomiting
7. Tender breasts
8. Bloated abdomen
9. The bladder doesn’t empty totally

PCOS Symptoms

Simply explained, PCOS is when a woman’s hormones are out of balance. The ovaries become enlarged and contain cysts that are usually small and painless. PCOS causes issues with menstrual cycles and infertility. PCOS symptoms usually begin gradually to include:

1. Obesity
2. Thinning hair
3. Inability to become pregnant
4. Miscarriages
5. Irregular menstrual cycles (missing periods and/or periods lasting unusually long)
6. Unusual bleeding between periods
7. Acne
8. Hair growth (hirsutism) on the face and other areas typically unlikely for a female
9. Oily skin
10. Mood swings

As stated earlier, symptoms of uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts and PCOS can mimic other conditions. It’s important for women to educate themselves and be observant of changes with their body to obtain an accurate diagnosis for either of these conditions.
