How To Know If You Are Hiring A Good Home Remodeling Contractor
Around the United States we are all trying to get financially back on track. Economics can play a major role in the things we do from day to day. With that being said some time we have to cut corners to make our budgets stretch to the fullest possible extent. I am a Detroit home remodeling contractor and in my city as well as in yours we need to get the best possible deal when we spend our money. I deal with all nationalities of people and we all have one thing in common, saving money! Sometime this thinking can get us in trouble because the lowest priced object or service is not necessarily the best object or service.
Here in Detroit we see a lot of homeowners and investors make this mistake when getting repair work done on their home or investment property. They will take quotes and go straight for the low price without knowing about the contractor or the work ethics of the contractor. Many people fail to check if he/she is certified by the state to perform the services they are selling to you. I have personally went out to certain investors assessed the project and gave a complete quote for quality home restoration ^(http://hollidaybuildinginc.com) work to be done. Let’s just say they went with the other guy. Later I get a call to come back out to re-assess the project and it was half done. Now the homeowner/investor has spent most of the money for the project to a contractor with no certification or references and they have left the project half done.
The reason I didn’t get the job was because their price was lower than mine, never mind we are licensed by the state and have many references they can talk to and see some work in person. The price was for maybe a $200.00 difference. The homeowner can do nothing because the contractor was not licensed, does not have a warranty on the work and cannot be punished or fined because the low price bought an unscrupulous, unlicensed contractor. Not all unlicensed contractors are bad but you have to protect yourself when doing home restorations because I have seen this all too often.
Now the homeowner/investor does not have enough revenue to finish the project, not only was it half done but I forgot to tell you it was done mostly wrong. Now is that worth $200.00 to you? Didn’t think so, please check out the contractor because it not only hurts the homeowner/investor it hurts the reputable contractors that went through all the necessary channels to be a licensed contractor to do some good work and make a few dollars.
