There is a house and a home and the difference is, how you feel about it. Home is a place you you feel passionate about it, and feel like you fit in, so in that regards, if you live in a house and not a home, you need to create an environment you are going to love.
The Party Room
For example, my wife and I, we enjoy having people visit us. I love to collect different bottles of drinks. Due to this, I really wished to make one entertainment space. The playroom is really something. It is completely separate from other rooms, and since we upper floor is all the stuff, on the first floor is that playroom room kind of like a loft and the 3 car garage. I installed some extra loft insulation ^(http://www.fusioninsulation.com/loft-insulation) into the home so it is insulated from all the noise so I do not get my neighbors complaining, and of course kids can sleep in.
As I said, we love to have people over, and when my father came to visit me, he actually put together a real bar for me. It is not the mini bar, but a full size bar. The room is really big enough to fit it in, and we even added some entertainment interesting stuff like darts, small TV etc.
At first I thought of getting the antique bar, but thought that in the future this will be antique and it means so much more to me having him create one for me.
Entertaining
Now, our home is on the raised foundation, and it was built in 60′s when many contractors were not thinking of adding a roof, wall and floor insulation. Once we were installing the building insulation into our home, we included the surround system through the floor as it was really impossible to go through the ceiling. Therefore now when we have a holiday party at home, it really is feel like home, but entertainment room is particularly extra special.
While we used to travel to so many different spots during holidays, now days most of the holiday gathering are at home and all of our friends and family love it. Kids have their own resting quarters while we have our own.
And that is the bottom line in difference between the house and the home. You have to make it your own. This year, we have decided that we need a summer house as well. Now we are actually making plans for the outdoor kitchen and all the fun that comes with it. It is all about how you make your home.
